Verdict

Small and a good alternative to a keyboard, but it has limited compatibility and is expensive

A keyboard like no other, the VKB projects a keyboard onto any flat surface. Using both infra-red and laser technology, it allows you to tap away on it like a standard keyboard.

When we first looked at the VKB back in the April issue of PCW, we commented that a wireless version was required. A few months down the line and I-Tech has released a Bluetooth edition.

Compatibility is limited to selected phones, PDAs and Pocket PCs (check the website for a full list). The manual (all two pages of it) could be vastly improved upon, but fortunately we had no problems pairing it to a variety of PDAs.

Limited compatibility and the price hold the Bluetooth VKB back, but it’s still an intriguing gadget.
