If you're constantly on the move and hooking up to various Internet connections in hotel rooms, this router from Linksys will be of interest.

With dimensions of just 70 x 30 x 104mm (w x d x h) and housing a built-in power supply, the WTR54GS Travel Router is extremely portable.

Two ports sit on the side of the router, one for an Ethernet cable to your PC should you prefer wired over wireless, and another for hooking up a broadband Ethernet modem. Four indicator LEDs keep you informed about what the router is up to.

If you've used a Linksys router before, the web-based interface won't cause you any problems, but it's not the most intuitive of menus for newcomers.

The WTR54GS includes Broadcom's Speedbooster technology to enhance performance.

Unlike Super G, which uses channel bonding to increase throughput, Speedbooster achieves faster transfer speeds by combining several data packets and sending them as one.

The downside is it will only work with other Speedbooster wireless devices.

We also found the router got very hot, so we recommend giving it plenty of breathing space when in use.

Its small size means this router is likely to appeal most to business users who want to be able to share an Internet connection or set up a wireless network while out and about.
