Sony has announced its new range of notebooks and two Media Center PCs under
the Vaio brand.
The top-of-the-range
AR20
notebooks, based around Intel's Core 2 Duo processor, are equipped with Blu-ray
burners, enabling them to be used for recording, editing and playing
high-definition (HD) video. All are equipped with 17in 1920 x 1200 resolution.
The machines also pack an integrated hybrid digital and analogue TV tuner,
and an HDMI port that can link into an HD-ready TV.
The mid-range
FE30
series machines have a 15.4in widescreen, a 200GB hard drive and a choice of
Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
The entry-level
N10
series notebooks also have 15.4in screens, and come with a choice of 80GB
and 100GB hard disks
Sony's new slimline
LA1 Media
Centre is an all-in-one design that can double as a living-room TV. It has a
dual analogue and digital TV tuner, a 19in 1680 x 1050 widescreen and a 300GB
hard disk for storing stills and TV recordings.
The XL200 series also pack a TV tuner and recorder, and a DVD burner. The
XL202 packs a Blu-ray drive. No prices have been announced
