Apple has introduced its latest line-up of MacBook Pro laptops, powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
Featuring up to 4GB of memory, the new arrivals come wrapped in an aluminium chassis that’s just 1in thick.
The new slimline chassis is due largely to the introduction a new LED backlit display which, Apple claimed, not only throws up richer images but will help extend battery life.
The two 15in Macbooks on offer will come with the LED displays as standard and are powered by 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo processors, respectively. The 2.4GHz 17in model sports an LCD display with a resolution of 1,680x1,050, but buyers can opt for an optional 1,920x1,200 high-resolution display.
“With Intel Core 2 Duo performance, more memory and state-of-the-art graphics, this MacBook Pro is a portable powerhouse for creative and professional users,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product marketing.
“Apple’s notebooks have always led the industry in innovation with features like built-in 802.11 and the Magsafe Power Adapter, and now the industry’s first 15-inch LED-backlit display is another step toward completely eliminating mercury from our displays.”
All new MacBooks feature an in-built iSight video camera and the innovative Magsafe Power Adapter. The adapter magnetically connects the power cord to the Macbook Pro and disconnects safely, and without dragging the laptop, if someone steps on it.
The new 2.2GHz 15in, 2.4GHz 15in and 2.4GHz 17in MacBook Pros are priced at £1,299, £1,599 and £1,799.
