A British software company has created a program for creating applications
for both Virtual Earth and Google Maps.
Map Explorer for Virtual Earth, published by
GIS
Logic, lets users build complex Virtual Earth Maps or Google Maps without
programming and then integrate those with their website.
Using Virtual Earth or Google Maps to publish location-based information is
an cheap solution for lots of businesses.
The new software will allow users to plot markers/icons, polygons, poly
lines, rectangles, and circles on a chosen map. Adding data to rollover
markers/icons is a case of uploading an image, adding a web link, email link and
text. It will also display information such as grid references and directions.
It is also possible to route plan with Map Explorer. Enter where you want to
go, and the software will calculate a route for you. It also includes search
facilities to worldwide gazetteers containing location, address, and contact
information of organisations, which are displayed on the map as pushpins with
rollover popup windows.
Map Explorer for Virtual Earth, distributed by QBS Software, costs £50 for
the Standard version and £195 for the Professional version.
