Desktop Lawyer launched

newmedia newmedia, VNU Business Publications 07 May 1999

Freeserve and Epoch Software have launched the first Internet-based public legal service, called Desktop Lawyer. Visitors to the site can use Rapidocs Assembler to download, for a small fee, standard legal letters, wills, powers of attorney and property agreements - before you can say "my learned friend".

The site also features a Question and Answer forum with FAQs catalogued for ease of use. A comprehensive legal glossary is on the site, alongside a useful address list for legal and government agencies.

Links to Lawnet provide a listing of approved solicitors in your area and give you an idea of their fees.

Legal director of Epoch Software, Richard Cohen, said of Desktop Lawyer's launch: "This service will transform the public's perception of the delivery of legal services, because it is the first time ordinary people and businesses will be able to get easy access to legal services at a price they can predict."
