No nonsense encryption software that's easy to use
Anyone working with sensitive data needs to consider how effective the level of security is on their system.
Aside from protecting against Internet based threats, the physical procurement of information is an added concern, particularly if working on a network or using portable equipment while on the move.
JDPSoft's Digital Vault addresses the problem by offering a fast and secure solution with a minimum of fuss and bother.
Installing the software to your hard drive creates a secure vault on either a fixed disk or removable storage such as a CD or DVD. When files or folders are placed in the vault, you can assign a specific password - this will then be required before they can be accessed in the future.
You can create more than one vault on your system and browse through them using the package, so itís easy to categorise your sensitive data or split it between a number of vaults for added security.
In addition, you can protect individual files or email attachments if you're sending important data.
Recipients can either use their own copy of the software to decrypt the file (provided you give them the password, of course) or download the free Digital Vault Reader.
The software is extremely easy to use and also very fast. The 256bit Blowfish encryption, at the upper end of today's standards, should provide more than enough peace of mind.
It's a no frills package though, so don't expect a range of hidden extras above the features weíve discussed.
For the most part, you wouldn't want a lot of fuss and bother around a subject such as encryption, but it would be nice to offer a little more information such as hints on effective passwords to use and a bit more detail on the effectiveness of the security on offer.
