Forget flat-panel TVs - try this flat-panel projector instead
Many people buy projectors as an alternative to a large-screen television or monitor, but they’re not the most attractive-looking devices and getting them set up in your front room or office can be a bit of a chore.
The AN110 from LG is an interesting attempt to make the projector fit into a home or office setting a bit more naturally.
This flat-panel DLP projector is designed to hang on the wall like a picture frame, so that it can project an image onto another wall across the room.
It is supplied with a wall-bracket and a bunch of nuts and bolts for fixing it to the wall (there’s also an optional desktop stand available for £20).
The bracket allows you to adjust the tilt and rotation of the AN110 so you can position the image correctly.
Fine-tune focus, zoom and other settings are accessed using the remote control or by a set of buttons on the left-hand edge of the projector.
Image quality is excellent. Our only real criticism is that the image wasn’t as bright as we would have liked. The 1,000 lumens brightness is a bit low for a projector in this price range, and it does mean that you can only really use the AN110 in a room that has been thoroughly blacked out.
The projector is HD Ready with an HDMI input and native resolution of 1280x768, so you can use it to watch HD television programmes or forthcoming high-definition DVDs.
The space-saving design of LG's innovative projector, along with its image quality, will no doubt appeal to more aesthetic-minded users who don’t want a projector cluttering up a table in the middle of the room.
