Card aimed at entry level workstations
It's been some time since we've seen any new FireGL cards from AMD, but just recently a whole new range has been launched bringing new technologies to the workstation graphics card sector.
The FireGL V3600, based on the 65nm RV630 Pro core, is aimed at entry level workstations, particularly CAD and DCC users with support for both DirectX10 and OpenGL2.1.
It also brings AMD's Unified Shader technology to this market segment - the V3600 has a total of 120 shader units.
The V3600 is the first entry level 256MB card with two dual-link DVI outputs allowing it to drive large, high-resolution monitors. The 256MB of Ram runs through a 128-bit memory bus giving a total bandwidth of 16GBytes/sec.
