Review: Sitecom Network Giga Switch

Make the most of Gigabit Lan devices

Will Stapley, Personal Computer World 10 Jan 2008

We're starting to see Gigabit Lan (1,000Mbits/sec) appearing in more and more devices these days, but unless you've got a Gigabit router or switch you won't be able to make use of their high-speed capabilities.

Sitecom's Network Giga Switch lets you hook up to five devices, with LEDs on the front indicating activity. If you have more than five Gigabit Lan devices, an eight-port version is available for £49.99.

As expected, the switch requires its own power supply, but you'll also need to purchase an adapter since the one included is of the European two-pin plug variety. It's relatively cheap, but a neater solution would be to buy a router with built-in Gigabit Lan.
