BusinessGreen.com launches new Asia-Pacific news site

BusinessGreen.com has today officially launched a new site dedicated to providing the latest green business news from across Asia and the Pacific region.

BusinessGreen.Asia will offer daily news on green business developments from across a region that is increasingly regarded as being central to the global fight against climate change, and one of the world's most influential clean technology hubs.

The site will also feature all the analysis, comment, interviews and features familiar to BusinessGreen.com readers.

The new site will be headed up from Incisive Media's office in Hong Kong by BusinessGreen.com's recently appointed Asia-Pacific correspondent, Yvonne Chan, who can be contacted at Yvonne.Chan@incisivemedia.com.

Jonathan Whitely, managing director for Asia Pacific at Incisive Media, said that the new site would prove a valuable resource to business leaders in Asia's fast expanding green industries, providing insight into new environmental regulations, clean technologies and investment opportunities from across the region.

"There is growing acceptance that, with China now established as the world's biggest polluter, the fight against climate change will be won or lost in Asia. But at the same time there is cause for optimism," he said.

"China has established itself as a dominant player in the global renewables industry, clean tech hubs are emerging in countries such as Japan, South Korea, India and New Zealand, and we're seeing more green regulations and increasing levels of clean tech investment across Asia-Pacific."

The site will also help US and European firms, as well as Asia-based businesses, keep track of one of the most vibrant and fast-changing environmental markets, according to BusinessGreen.com publisher Mark Burton.

"There are huge misconceptions about the stance of Asian countries," he observed. "Political and business leaders are painfully aware that nations such as Bangladesh and India would be devastated by climate change and rising sea levels, and they are increasingly committed to promoting low carbon and climate resilient business models. Any firm interested in operating in Asia needs to be aware of this new reality."
