Young children are always desperate to have a go with computers but letting them loose can be very dangerous.
Not understanding what any of the keys do means they can easily delete important files or change settings.
Baby Smash is a simple program that displays colourful letters and numbers as keys are pressed, along with sound effects. Moving the mouse draws coloured lines on the screen.
To ensure that the computer and the files on it are kept safe, the Windows key and Alt and Tab combination are both disabled. The only way to exit the program is to press Alt and F4.
The options can be changed by pressing Shift, Ctrl and O and these include different sounds.
In testing we found that this software doesn't work on dual-monitor computers; the second monitor was still active and the cursor could be moved onto it. It is not hard to disable the monitor first, maybe this will be added in later versions.
