Q I recently installed Ashampoo Defrag as given away by
Computeractive as a free download. It installed OK and ran at first but it won’t
let me register the program, no matter how many times I try. Now it has passed
its trial period. Was it free or not?

commercial versions of software, and are supplied without restriction compared
with the commercial paid-for versions.
Some of the software we give away will only work for a certain amount of
time, such as a year, but this is the case with the commercial versions as well.
Most of them require registration, including the Ashampoo Defrag program.
If you find that your registration code doesn’t turn up in your email inbox
once you’ve registered, check your spam filter, or junk email folder.
