When it comes to image editing and drawing, there's no denying that the ubiquitous mouse can often be more of a hindrance than a help. It's not surprising that graphics artists invariably use pen-based input devices that allow a much more natural way of working than the mouse does.
This latest incarnation of Wacom's Graphire suite lets home users get in on the act and even includes a matching mouse to give you the best of both worlds. The redesigned graphics tablet now slopes gently upwards for improved hand support while its removable, transparent cover allows pictures and photographs to be inserted and traced.
Both pen and mouse employ magnetic resonance technology, which means that it is wireless and doesn't require batteries either. The pen has a resolution of 2000 dpi plus 512 levels of pressure sensitivity ensure superb accuracy.
The mouse has silent-clicking buttons and a rubberised scroll wheel, but it only functions within the active region of the tablet.
