4Front Group buyout bodes ill for Datapro staff

Services group Datapro Computers Group is bracing itself for redundancies after it was bought by 4Front Group for #1,390,000 last Friday.

4Front Group picked up the firm to bolster its maintenance, systems integration and product businesses.

Ken Newall, 4Front CEO, was unable to rule out job cuts at the Brighton-based firm, which employs 150 people.

'We can't always guarantee re-employment. We will look at how operations run and find out who the stars are. There is nothing in Brighton, we've got no contracts there, so we're unlikely to keep the office on,' he said.

Datapro, which had a turnover of u11.25 million for the year ended 30 June, will be paid most of the money up front with u135,000 being paid after 75 days.

This marks 4Front's third acquisition this year, as it bought storage distributor Hammer in August and DCS last month. It is expected to make more acquisitions, but not until next year. Newall said: 'We'll let the indigestion pass for now.'
