Shumra has unveiled a new network processor-based appliance, which it says will help firms test application performance under any new wide area network (WAN) system prior to deployment.

Shunra said its new WAN emulation appliance, STA, allows users to test application performance under a variety of existing and potential network conditions. STA is based on Shunra's latest Virtual Enterprise Suite v5.30.

VE Suite version 5.30 can test applications under real-world network conditions. This allows users to identify business transactions potentially causing performance problems within any production network. It can capture and record transaction flows and use automated analysis tools to potentially reduce the time for root-cause discovery from weeks to hours.

“Proactive application performance testing reduces failed rollouts, and ensures existing or planned WAN configuration will meet business objectives," said Shunra Software chief executive, Thomas Charlton in a statement.

Shunra's STA appliance is capable of supporting network services at aggregate rates of up to 24Gbits/s, and allows users to simulate network flows over Ethernet, IP and MPLS services.
