Sun Microsystems has used the JavaOne conference to announce new technologies aimed at powering and creating compelling online content.

The JavaOne conference took place in San Francisco this week, and included a number of demos of new technologies, and new capabilities from Sun, specifically those surrounding its JavaFX tools.

"Java technology has evolved to be the most powerful, scalable and secure development platform for a broad range of enterprise and mobile applications," said Rich Green, executive vice president of Software at Sun Microsystems.

Like many other firms Sun will also discuss how it hopes to encourage more development on its platform, specifically the JavaFX suite of products. The firm announced that this summer it would offer developers access to an early version of the JavaFX runtime for both browsers and desktops.

JavaFX Mobile and JavaFX TV will follow in the spring 2009.
