Q I have an AMD64 PC with a 64bit Linux system installed.
Everything runs fine except I can’t seem to get the Flash plug-in working in
Firefox.

A The problem here is the mixture between 32 and 64bit
software. A 64bit system can run 32bit programs in addition to 64bit, but it
cannot mix code in the same program – a single application must be entirely
32bit or entirely 64bit.
Plug-ins in your browser extend the browser’s functionality by adding in
extra code, as the name suggests.
Your version of Firefox is 64bit, but unfortunately the Flash plug-in from
Macromedia is currently only available as 32bit.
Until a 64bit version is released, the easiest way round this is to download
the 32bit Firefox binary from
Mozilla.org and
use this version instead of the 64bit version supplied with your distribution.
