It’s also good to see a CPU cooler that doesn’t weigh a ton

At first glance, Asus’s latest CPU cooler looks a chunky beast, but in fact it weighs just 385g – quite a contrast to some of the hefty coolers we’ve seen recently.

It supports all the latest AMD CPUs (Socket 754, 939 and 940), including the newer Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors.

The base of the X-Mars is constructed from copper with the cooling fins made in aluminium.

Two copper heatpipes transfer heat from the base to the cooling fins, while a single ballbearing fan sits on the top of the cooler and spins between 2,000 and 5,400rpm. This is a well-designed CPU fan built with quality material.
