Pros: Doubles up as a remote; easy to scan for stations
Cons: Only compatible with two Ipods; white only; poor reception
Overall: A long-awaited Ipod accessory, but only scrapes good value thanks to doubling up as a remote

With the Ipod's gigantic success, Apple has enlarged its cult fan-base to global proportions.

So, with the world at its feet, what's the easiest way to tap into the pockets of Ipod customers? One word: accessories.

The Apple Store is already laden with all kind of add-ons, but this latest gadget adds some decent functionally to the comparatively feature-limited digital music player.

The Ipod Radio Remote answers the prayers of many Ipod owners, presenting an FM tuner for £35.

Plug the wired remote into the elongated interface of any Ipod Nano or Ipod Video and select the Radio option that pops up on the menu screen.

Then, use the scroll wheel to scan through an on-screen frequency gauge to tune into a station, or jump to the next available station using the remote's forward and back buttons.

Favourites are stored by holding down the centre button.

The tiny remote/FM receiver also has a volume control, hold button, headphone socket and belt clip attached to its tiny frame.

It also claims to support RDS station information, which should be displayed on the Ipod, but throughout our testing we didn't receive any data whatsoever.

Signal quality is what you'd expect from such a small FM tuner - good in open spaces but flakey in built up areas.

It also doubles up as an Ipod remote, which should please those who have lost/broken theirs and goes someway to justifying the price tag.
