Serif, the producer
of low-cost web publishing and graphics software, has taken the wraps of the
latest version of its web design software, Web Plus 10.
The £60 software has beefed up its ecommerce tools and is designed to let
non-professionals create websites quickly and easily.
New features in version 10 include the ecommerce shopping
carts with support for card payment via Paypal, Romancart or Mal’s.
The ecommerce wizard promises to make it simple for non-web designers to set
up an online store by letting them set up payment mechanisms with predesigned
standalone buttons, forms and direct links to the shopping cart.
A new Photogallery feature allows users to select a group of images, add
effects, frames, captions and links to the images before dragging them onto the
page where they want.
For ‘eye-catching’ emails, there is a new HTML design tool while Serif Hosted
Smart Objects lets users add popular web functions, such as blogs, polls and RSS
feeds to their sites. Again, it’s a drag-and-drop facility that requires no
programming language skills.
"Web Plus 10 is a landmark release that makes it possible for our customers
to create truly interactive websites and enter the exciting world of ecommerce,
without the steep learning curve usually associated with Web design," said Gary
Bates, Serif’s managing director.
