Web radio and TV stations large and small can cut their bandwidth costs by 90
percent using a new peer-to-peer tool called Quickstart, developer Rawflow
claims
The company points out that the proliferation of broadband has made it very
easy for individuals of businesses to stream video or audio content, but their
costs soar as their popularity
grows.
QuickStart broadcasters first register an account and submit their stream
URLs and a brief description of the content via an online interface.
Viewer or listeners download a small plug-in that enables them to connect and
form a secure P2P network with other users.
Rawflow chief executive Mikkel Dissing, said: " QuickStart ...is making P2P
live streaming a reality for broadcasters of all sizes, allowing them to
increase the scalability and quality of their live streams and at the same time
reduce bandwidth costs."
A 30-day free trial is available and licences are priced according to the
amount of data transferred.
