Security firm Yoggie Security Systems has launched a new way of securing your
laptop or PC without dedicated security software packages.
The company has just launched Yoggie Pico, a tiny USB device that contains 13
security applications and is touted as the first ever full security suite on a
USB stick.
The device is essentially a miniature Linux computer with 128Mb of memory and
powered by a 520MHz Intel processor. It offloads all of the key security
functions to the stick and screens all Internet traffic before it gets onto a PC
or notebook.
Yoggie
claims that the protection on offer is "full, corporate level internet
protection" from all types of all types of hacking, virus, malware, worms and
other attacks. Updates are carried out on a hourly basis without interrupting
the user.
"The growing threat from Internet borne attacks to computing devices and the
negative user experience with heavy software security suites, that unacceptably
slow their computers, has led us to develop the Yoggie Pico series," said Shlomo
Touboul, CEO and founder of Yoggie Security Systems.
"This breakthrough concept of offloading and separating offers users the best
of both worlds - in terms of both security and performance."
The Yoggie Pico is available in two formats, the Yoggie Pico Personal for
consumers and the Pico Pro for the enterprise market. They cost £95 and £106,
respectively.
