BT has jumped on to the ultra-mobile bandwagon, offering a 7in tablet
convertible for sale through its high-street shops and
online store.
The 993g Vye S37 comes from a company called Vye Computers, which is based in
Surrey but has a US arm.
According to the company website, Vye was founded in 2006 by a "leading
software firm" that saw the potential for ultra-mobiles and set about sourcing
manufacturing facilities that could respond quickly to demand.
The site also says Vye has fully operational ISO-approved service facilities
here and elsewhere in UK and Europe.
The S37 uses a 600MHz or 800MHz Stealey processor and has a swivel screen
that converts it from a tablet to a standard notebook formats. A compact-flash
slot allows it to use a 3G data card. The machine will cost £671 and £761,
depending on processor speed.
