Media player firm offers mini-laptop
Archos 10 raises questions about future of narrow-function devices

Mobile multimedia pioneer Archos is hedging its market bets by offering a
low-cost mini-laptop capable of playing the same content as its media players.
One of the great unknowns of device evolution is whether emerging
general-purpose mini formats will supersede special-purpose devices such as
iPods and Archos's own media players.

Archos
10 mini-laptop has a 10.2in screen and a webcam for video calls.
In addition to the usual PC functions it offers access to the Archos media
club for video downloads and access to music. The machine is also set up for
easy access to web TV and radio stations.
