Microsoft Bing search goes live
Google-like interface for 'decision engine'

Microsoft has finally unwrapped its new search site Bing, the much
anticipated upgrade of its Live Search service.
The
beta
site, announced by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer at the All Things
Digital Conference in California, is live now, although the official launch is
scheduled for 3 June.
The opening screen has obviously been influenced by Google, with a simple
search box topped by a menu bar of search types: web, images, video, news, maps
and more.
Microsoft is choosing to call Bing a 'decision engine', perhaps to
distinguish it from Google. Ballmer explained in a press statement: "Bing is an
important first step forward in our long-term effort to deliver innovations in
search that enable people to find information quickly and use the information
they’ve found to accomplish tasks and make smart decisions.”
Microsoft claims Bing will enable users to find the information they want
with a minimum number of clicks.
