If you're still typing your emails and memos using the old, time-consuming, hunt-and-peck system, Miracle Type has just released a new version of its popular typing software that might help you out.

The latest version of this software (we reviewed a previous version of Miracle Type in 2005) promises to get its users touch-typing in no time.

As with previous versions, the user is asked to memorise 10 keywords (five for each hand). These then play the role of a memory aid in order to learn the position of the alphabet on a Qwerty keyboard and the most used punctuation keys.

There are plenty of word and number drills to get you going and the speed tests indicate how well you're doing.

Competing with yourself on the times and scores of the tests makes the learning process less dreary, and our results did improve with time.

New features include a custom speed test, which allows you to do a test on any text you choose, and heaps of new revision drills to work up your speed and accuracy.

You can assess your progress at any time on the Review page, and see how well you've done throughout the tests.

Miracle Type is very intuitive and couldn't be easier to use. We also like the fact that the price of the software is now lower than previous versions.
