IBM has unveiled its Tivoli Federated Identity Manager, promising single sign-on access.
The software is designed to allows users to log-in once, after which the application will authenticate their identity when they try to access other services.
Big Blue claimed that the product dramatically reduces the number of log-in names and passwords that users need to remember, cutting the number of password reset requests to the helpdesk and improving security.
Because the software creates a single area where user rights are managed, there is a reduced risk of hackers exploiting the accounts of users who have left the company, according to IBM.
The service supports industry standards for federated identity including Liberty, SAML, WS-Federation, WS-Security and WS-Trust.
Tivoli Federated Identity Manager is expected to start shipping later this month. More information on the system can be found here
