The
Queen has published an advertisement for an IT expert to take up the role of
director of information technology at
Buckingham
Palace, according to press reports this morning.
The
Daily
Mirror said that the successful candidate will run the royal computer
network used by 900 palace staff, and will be charged with setting up a secure

In addition to the head of IT role, Buckingham Palace is also seeking a web

"You will also be a first-class writer, able to develop imaginative and

effectively within a team and to strict budgetary constraints," the ad states.
"Expertise in
Photoshop,
content management systems, HTML and statistical packages is prerequisite, in
addition to an awareness of emerging digital technologies and the current online
environment.
"Knowledge of WC3 and government web standards would be an advantage."
The Queen herself owns a laptop computer and an
iPod Mini given to her by
her son
