BSkyB has
signed deals to provide three cable companies with programming such as Sky One
and Sky News.
The satellite broadcaster, which pulled channels from
Virgin
Media after a disagreement about how much they should cost, has signed deals
to deliver programming to
Newtel,
Smallworld
and
Wightcable.
The companies serve viewers in Jersey, the Borders and the Isle of Wight. Sky
did not disclose how much the three firms paid for the renewed services.
"All three have recognised the increasing value of Sky's basic channels and
we welcome their decision to invest in bringing their customers the TV they
enjoy," Sky chief executive Mike Darcey told
The
Guardian.
Virgin Media is currently
suing BSkyB in
the High Court claiming that its actions are anti-competitive. Virgin's 3.3
million customers lost access to the basic Sky Channels in March.
BSkyB is also expected to launch a Bollywood video-on-demand channel in
partnership with Indian film studio
Eros
International. The deal will provide Sky with 100 Eros films from a library
of 1,300.
